The Redeemer

A primitive root, to redeem (according to the Oriental law of kinship), that is, to be the next of kin (and as such to buy back a relative's property, marry his widow, etc.): - X in any wise, X at all, avenger, deliver, (do, perform the part of near, next) kinsfolk (-man), purchase, ransom, redeem (-er), revenger.

The Eye

Adam and Eve's yes were opened Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Adam was created in the image of God. Thank about that. I believe that one of the ways we were created in His image is the way we are three parts; Spirit, Soul, and Body. 1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Belive that all three parts were created in perfect unity with each other. Just like God is. He is three in one The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit but all three are in one accord and in unity in all things. Then when Adam ate from the tree of knowledge he surely died. Not physically of course, but death entered into him. He was still in his body and was still connected to God spiritually but he now felt fear and separation from God. He now knew good and evil. He was no longer perfect and innocent, now he had evil feelings, thoughts and emotions mixed in with the good. This is where the biggest struggle is; in our mind. Now that he has mixture he is no longer in one accord or in perfect harmoney with himself or with God. He can't be. No matter how hard you try to do good and try to be righteous and try to be pleasing to God in your own strength you cant do it.

Thank God He didnt leave us in this mess. He sent the new and improved Adam; Jesus Christ. The first Adam took us away from God, this Adam brought us back to God. The first Adam brought death and separation, Jesus brought life and unity. The first Adam brought confusion and mixture, Jesus brought understanding and purity. The first Adam brought flood water, Jesus brought fire. Jesus came to restore us back to the Father in all the ways Adam was before the fall and more. Makes me think of this verse in another light. Joh 17:11....Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. I know He wants us to be one as a body and for all His creation to come together in unity of the spirit, but I belive that He also wants us individually to be one again spirit, soul, and body. Adam was one (with himself and with God)before He was one with Eve (the body, the church). Our spirits are saved, our minds are being saved and our bodies shall be saved. Unity. Purity. No mixture of good and evil. That's nothing we can do in our self or for ourselves, so He did it for us.

Now that we are no longer in Adam but in Christ we pray for Jesus to open our eyes once again. Unlike our time in Adam and our time under the law, with Jesus we look to life and peace and unity with God again. So your eye must be single in order to see your way back to the garden. You must keep your eyes off yourself and off others (judging whats right and wrong, walking the fence and being soulish) and keep them focused on The Light (seeking for His judgement in all things). Seems like we just get taught to fear His judgement, but we should desperately want His judgement because it is purifying and cleansing, and giving us a walk that is of pure gold. Luk 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

Kitsuke errors from fidgeting + walking across campus to get to the presentation room. ^^; The only one whose kimono really held together that well was Mom- she moved around a lot less, compared to hyper!Wombat and me (the person bringing out examples and dressing a student, whose photo we unfortunately didn't seem to get...)

An upgrade from the last time I did a kimono lecture, this time I brought the real things instead of photos, jammed in a giant trunk- which due to its hernia potential, may not have been the best idea... BUT the lecture on the history, development and types of kimono was awesome. :3

This is Mom wearing my matsu kurotomesode + a fukuro obi we borrowed from SuperWombatchan (since I wanted to use the gold fukuro obi with my kiku houmongi; I never realized how much of a fukuro obi shortage we had until that night. @_@) The kurotomesode is synthetic, which (along with the pine motifs) is one of the reasons I bought it; I hadn't seen that many synthetic kurotomesode, and the novelty won me over.

BTW: The obi is a metallic brocade fukuro obi, but parts of the metallic brocade are pink instead of it just being pure gold and/or silver. Does anyone know if that's actually okay for a kurotomesode? Honestly, I'd never thought about it before (I always pair this with my gold fukuro obi on the RARE occasions I've worn it) so it's never been an issue before... But, with time running out and limited internet access, I didn't research it. :S Anyone want to volunteer some advice? Yay or nay for the metallic-but-with-color obi?
